Four facts from the design world
About an old Latin text, a Swiss typeface, a yearly color, and Naskh script.
Four light facts from the design world.
Lorem ipsum
The Latin filler text used in layouts comes, scrambled, from a work by the Roman orator Cicero written more than forty years before the Common Era.
Helvetica
The typeface was designed in Switzerland in 1957 as Neue Haas Grotesk, then renamed Helvetica, from the Latin name for Switzerland.
Color of the Year
Since 2000, Pantone has chosen a “Color of the Year”. The first was Cerulean.
Naskh
Naskh script is said to take its name from copying, because it was widely used to copy books thanks to its clarity.
